Chosen solution

Without knowing what you are rying to download from where, it is near impossible to recreate what you are seeing. Is the file in the "downloads" folder on your Android device?

What do i mean by that is to apk vid anything but that actually solve the problem but one last question can we still change the downloader or no?

more options

Not at present, no. The new Firefox for Android uses the built in Android downloader but this is something that I understand is due to be looked at in a future update.

When I trying download from here http://www.speedypizzacassago.it/listino_speedy_pizza.pdf the pdf isn't downloaded. If I try with another browser it works fine

I have the same problem. Since update of Firefox for Android on September 1, 2020 to version 80.1.2 (Build #2015761283) I can no longer download anything to my smartphone from the internet. Downloading any file always works fine with other browsers (like Chrome or Samsung Internet). This must be a bug in Firefox for Android ! Hopefully that will be repaired very soon.

Why is this marked as solved? The "chosen solution" is literally just a question.

For me, since the horrendous overhaul we got at the beginning of the month, I cannot find my downloads ANYWHERE. Searching in my file manager (Samsung) doesn't turn anything up and despite the help page for downloads on android, I do not have a downloads option in my menu.

Previously, any pictures I downloaded would show up directly in my gallery app and anything else would be in my file manager. Now I can't find the download ANYWHERE. Opening it via the notification where Firefox claims it was downloaded simply opens it in my gallery app but it does not let me do anything with it except share it. So now, the only way I can find at the moment to save an image is to "download" it, open it via the notification, and use share to text it to myself, where then I can finally save it.

This massive update has been one very frustrating disappointment after another, but I can at least figure out how do navigate everything... except simply figuring out where my downloads went.

I too have the same problem mentioned above.

Use Firefox to download an image on a Samsung s9 (android 10). Long press - save image - notification appears below - click open - image shows but can't be found anywhere...

All other browsers work, downloading into gallery and showing instantly.

I am afraid this will mean I abandon Firefox after many happy years of trusting use. There are certain things I do on my phone that require me to have instant access to downloaded files. Firefox prevents me doing this/is broken and as a result I will be abandoning it both on phone and pc for work and home tasks as I need sync between devices.

Very sad to have to do this but am left no choice as there is no solution here and simply more instances of my issue.

I have deleted and redownloaded. I have cleared gallery cache and data. I have even factory reset the phone and nothing works. For Samsung s9 on android 10,firefox is broken.

Thanks.

After updating yesterday, the nightly version seem fix the problem. The beta version partially fix the problem. Beta version can download the link above but not working for e-banking.

Same problem. Download fails.

I tried to download the Netguard apk from github and it fails when tapping the download link. No entry is created in the downloads menu, just a notification with a progress bar sweeping back and forth.

I got it to work when I long pressed and chose "download link" from the pop-up menu. Failed every time before that.

I'm on build #2015765523. Pixel 2xl with Android 11.

Downloads would randomly fail on android 10 too. Finally got fed up and searched on Google for a solution.

Same issue.

Long Press -> Save Image The image is downloaded, and I can open it in gallery.

When looking at file details in gallery, it just shows a filename, not a full file path.

I can then use the "share" feature to send myself the file, say by email or in messenger, which allows me to ACTUALLY download the file to a place on my phone.

This is a MAJOR regression. This problem has existed before, and it's clear whatever bug caused it before has shown up again.

The "chosen answer" on this thread is NOT AN ANSWER.

This is absolutely not a "solution" so I have no idea why it is marked as the "chosen solution" on this lengthy thread of people with the same exact problem and multiple descriptions of the problem.

The problem on my device is that it's adding a download folder into the download folder. Anything I save in firefox goes there. I can not share or do anything with the file.

I managed to fix it by deleting cache plus app data and then installing Firefox Beta. Now files are saving in a folder that app (FB Photos and almost all others can access for uploading) and all is well in the world. It wasn't working when I tried it with just Firefox.

I am also having this issue and I am also seeing what holmes.joshua.jr said. Files download by Firefox are being saved to download/download/ for since reason and none of my other apps can see that folder. Its stripped an entire function out of this app.

Please fix this.

Same issue. Downloads allways fail and permissions are given.. Horrible. How does something like this slip through?

Guys, I had the same shame with my Android Firefox 81.1.5 and I think I found a temporary fix.

Just try to enable "External download manager" setting in Firefox, try to download smth., then finally disable this setting and download will work successfully.

zhaewb's solution did not work for me

Browser popup shows file is ready for download >> click DOWNLOAD >> "Download failed" / "Try Again" (Error displays in both notification and browser app as expected).
