when I type in http://my-fqn-hostname:port into the address bar, it changes to www.my-fqn-hostname:port and says "cannot find server", how can I fix this?.
The "auto-append-www" feature seems to be working overtime. In this case, I can never connect to my server using firefox.

Type about:config in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click I'll be careful, I promise! button.
- Preferences that have been modified are shown as bold (user set).
- Preferences can be Reset to the default values or changed via the right-click context menu.
- Preferences of type Boolean can be Toggle to change their values from True to False and vice-versa by double-clicking the preference
-> Set the following Preferences' values to "'False"'
- browser.fixup.alternate.enabled
- browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled
- browser.urlbar.trimURLs
-> Close the about:config tab and then Restart Firefox.
Check and tell if its working.
Might not be related to your problem but you need to do the following:
-> Update Firefox to the latest version 10
-> Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
- When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)
