Firefox updated automatically yesterday and has wiped all my bookmarks. These are important to me. I have tried the Restore but it will only restore to yesterday. How can i resolve this?

Hello,

You may have seen a post or received a notification regarding support for Firefox with a link to another site. This is a scam and is not an official site to receive support from Mozilla. Please do not click on the link and do not interact by calling any phone numbers or email addresses listed. You are currently posting on the official Mozilla website and will receive assistance here.

Hi lyn.rolington, sorry to hear about this problem. What about your other data, do you still have history, any add-ons you were using, saved logins, etc.? Is that all missing?

If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your data, could you check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have another profile named default or default-release or default-longnumber listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Any progress so far?

hello lyn Rolington,

First, Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing.

  1. Click the Bookmarks button and select Show All Bookmarks.
  2. At the top of the Library window, click on Import and Backup and select Restore.
  3. Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
  4. In the new window that appears, click OK.
  5. Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.
