New thread created. /questions/1004537. Locking old thread

Firefox crashes about 5 seconds after startup. This happens even in safe mode. I've disabled all addons and extensions, and it continues anyway. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, no change. I've uninstalled, and deleted all %appdata%/*/Mozilla folders completely from my machine, reinstalled, and it continues to crash. I've tried firefox.exe -P to create a new profile, continues to crash. I've run both norton and microsoft essentials scans of my computer, and nothing is found. Continues to crash. Also, as a clue, I've noticed that even though I've removed all %appdata% folders, no matter what I do, I still see all the plugins still available, are these all installed with the firefox installer? Not that it really matters, because it continues to crash even when I disable all of them, as well as in safe mode (which presumably disabled all of them as well). Help!

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Sorry, I thought I was thorough. Of *course* I also tried the reset feature. (I had to be quick before it crashed on me, naturally). I've reset at least a half-dozen times, and it continues to crash, continues to have all add-ons (though now they are re-enabled, and I have to go back in and disable them all again).

Plugins aren't installed in the Firefox profile folder (although this is possible), but are usually found via a registry scan.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website, or open the crash reports page via "Help > Troubleshooting Information".

Just to follow up. It continues to crash on startup. None of the above responses were helpful in any way. There are NO crash reports being generated.
