The "back"/"forward" buttons only work on first window opened.

When opening Firefox, even in safe mode, the back/forward buttons only work on the main window. Any other windows will have this feature grayed out and non-functioning. Please advise. Thanks.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
