I seem to be getting "this is unsafe site" and missing certificates on a much larger number of sites than previous and some of them I have been to many times. did something change on Firefox or is this specific to my setttings?

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
