Account setup fails to find settings (but works ok in New Outlook?)

I am trying to set up an existing email address in Thunderbird but it is failing even though I have recently set up the same address with the same settings in 'New Outlook'.

As suggested on other threads, I have tried setting up the account while offline but the suggested connection details that are returned are based on the domain of the email address, rather than the known server.

I've also tried leaving the password blank but the process doesn't get past the same 'failed to find' stage (as shown in the screenshot, alongside the working New Outlook account details).

I have tried all the combinations of password authentication methods including autodetect for both incoming and outgoing servers.

I am new to Thunderbird so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

When I open prgn.misp.co.uk in my browser, it's redirected to tsohost.com. For IMAP accounts, they recommend these settings:

incoming IMAP server: imap.secureserver.net on 993, SSL/TLS, normal password, email address for User Name

ougoing SMTP server: smtpout.secureserver.net on 465, SSL/TLS, normal password, email address for User Name

If you're sure the settings in your picture are correct, an antivirus app might be blocking the connection, especially if it's not Windows Security. Run Windows in safe mode and see if the account can be added, or remove (not disable) the AV if it's e.g. AVG/Avast, Norton etc., to test its effect on TB.

Many thanks for the quick reply — creating the account in safe mode did the trick and the connection seems to be fine now I am back in normal mode.

(btw I did try the connection details you discovered from secureserver.net but they didn't work in normal mode and I didn't try them from safe mode once I got the original details working in safe mode.)

Cheers Martin
