after a few minutes, memory and cpu usage climbs to 100%. just started a few weeks ago. downloaded and reinstalled firefox but still have the same problem.

You can check the about:memory and about:processes pages for info about all processes. See also the about:unloads page for info about the tabs.

You can open "about:" pages via the location/address bar. The "about:" protocol is used to access special pages.
