Hi all, I have downloaded the new firefox 89. I have always had the Google search text box selected for display on my Firefox page. However, I can no longer enter text into it, all text I enter is re-directed to the firefox URL search box. So what is the point of being able to specify a search engine display on the homepage and how can I change the operation back to what is used to be - and indeed SHOULD be. When you select a text box for input by placing your curser in the box, text should ALWAYS be directed to that cursor position otherwise you have complete mayhem!

Chosen solution

You can turn it off by going to about:config and switching browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar to false.

Thank you so much TyDraniu - worked a treat. IMHO it is a pretty silly thing to default to true but then what do I know, I have only been writing industrial control software for about 30 years!

@Firefox, perhaps you should make settings like this a little more transparent to users?
