Hello, I always download mp3 files inside webs using "Save as" and ".mp3" method. Sometimes I had to explicitly save filename with ".mp3" extension to force audio download. However trying to download an audio no matter what format I write in file always download only webpage as .html never as .mp3. Looking at sourcecode (image attached) I found a detail containing "chrome" in webpage. Later, I tried downloading with Chromium at it worked properly. Does anyone know how to download this from Firefox?

Thanks in advance for your help. P.D. I am using Firefox 84.0.2 (64-bit) for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0.

Did you try downloading Firefox to a separate folder and running it to see what happens?

It would be nice if we could get the site so that we can try to replicate the issue.

Can you try downloading Firefox from the below link and try again? I don't have that issue from my OneDrive. see screenshot

Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its internal files and use chrome in other cases like userChrome.css (no relation with Google Chrome), so do not get confused.

You can inspect these builtin files via a link like this in the location bar.

  • view-source:chrome://global/skin/media/

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

If you get an HTML page then try to open this page to see its content as this can be an error message or a redirect.

No problems here with saving this MP3 file via the right-click context menu (Save Audio As).
