Turning off updates is not recommended. Updates contain important security and stability improvements and if you turn them off your computer is left vulnerable to them.

The most recent version of Firefox is 67.0.2. Please ensure you are fully up to date

OK Thanks. But this last update screwed up my stuff. Had to manually reinstall exts/theme and my bookmarks are gone. I have been futzing around w/this for 7 hours. I give up.

If you go into the profile manager, do you see multiple profiles? Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles

No. Thanks again. I quit. 8 hrs of this circle jerk is enough. Time to start drinking again.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

No reply has helped me so far. I am OLD. Here's a new one for you...why doesn't the theme show on open tabs. Only on the home page, Kind of defeats the reason to even have themes doncha think. If there is a simple S-I-M-P-L-E fix then please advise. If not then don't bother.

Themes -- like the built-in Dark theme, or themes you can install from the Add-ons site -- primarily modify the appearance of the toolbar area. All tabs on the tab bar should be affected. (Built-in themes in Firefox - alternative to complete themes)

Themes are not intended to modify web content, but extensions can do that. For example, do you want a dark theme for websites? Check out an add-on like this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/darkreader/

The only themes that Firefox supports are lightweight themes that style to Firefox user interface with a background image. If you have a background image on the home page then you must have an extension that adds this or have the home page set to a web page.

I don't want a dark theme. I want the one that I chose you know kittens, unicorns whatever. All this bs started with an update today. Yesterday everything was cool. I hate Google & MSN forget it. So I am stuck with FF. Do not suggest 'Refresh'. I tried it once & again everything was terrible.

Not one reply is SIMPLE or even applicable to the problems I'm having. If I'm fcked just say so & I can get on with the day.

I pick a theme from add-ons. I have FF as a homepage. The theme shows up there and ONLY there. So what constitutes 'light-weight' theme? Please show me where I can get one. All this angst could be avoided if updates didn't mess w/my computer.

Why doesn't the theme show up on web pages? It only shows on my homepage (FF). Is this normal. Yesterday it was showing - today nope.

more options

Now there is no theme showing anywhere at all. What is the point of having themes if they don't show?

I think you are confusing some terms

A homepage is the website that you first see when you open Firefox. It can be the default Firefox home page, or you can set it to be any website you want.

Themes only apply to Firefox. The tabs at the top. They don't change websites at all.

If you mean themes like this --

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/running-foxes-by-madonna/

-- they only show up on the toolbar area above the web page. They do not touch the web content itself.

My homepage IS FF. No theme shows up. I click on sites on that page-twitter, mail etc. No theme shows at the top of any of them. If I choose a theme it shows up on the add-ons page only then poof gone when I leave the add-ons page. Again what's the point if the theme doesn't show?

I appreciate the help but it's futile. Nothing is working so have a nice evening. I quit.

@jscher I get themes from add-ons Just like in the link you provided. Yesterday everything was working after the update today all my stuff was screwed up. I reinstalled my extensions. I lost all my bookmarks. I followed instructions to recover them to no avail.

Hi Beetina358, I'm not sure what's going on with your Firefox.

If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your bookmarks, could you check whether Firefox's Restore menu lists any bookmark backups? This article will get you to that menu: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.
