Firefox used to store all my passwords. I accepted an upgrade in September 2016 and have had problems logging into sites since. Just checked and find that all the passwords have gone... there were masses of them and I am now totally lost aboaut getting into all sorts of sites. Can I go back to the old Firefox? Will my passwords be there? The upgrade info told me everything would be saved but I can't find it. I am not experienced with managing computers so any help would need to be in simple terms please but I am really anxious about this.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Yes problem still there when i start in safe mode.

Have Old Firefox folder and hv followed your links. I see that I need 2 files. They are both listed, together with one called logins.json.corrupt of 27 Sept

The mozilla page doesn't actually tell me what to do with the files now I have found them. Advice welcome please.

Do this as instructed. Open your file browser to the Old Firefox folder you want to use. Open another file browser to your current profile.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Now COPY the files from the old folder to the current profile. You may have to overwrite the files in the current folder.

Thanks, Fred, for trying. (Have been away and could not do all that on my phone!). Have tried but don't quite understand all the words (eg is a file browser a file or a web page?) . I have had a go but not got far so I have decided to take your message to my computer shop and ask them to help. Am sure with your wisdom and my laptop in their hands it will get sorted out. Cheers.

A file browser lets you look thru what is on the hard drive. A web browser lets you surf the web.

Good luck.
