Why has AOL begun opening a new tab each time I log in?

Every time I log in to AOL, a new tab opens for it. Is there a way to stop this? It didn't always do this.

This does not happen when I login to aol. What I might recommend is to find out if this is a preference in aol or if there is a way to block popups from this particular site. (Make sure its not in the exceptions list)

If clearing the cache for the site in about:permissions also does not stop this, consider a virus scan for malware.
