Tbird has not loaded any emails since 9/26/2014. I start up the program, it clocks and no emails arrive. I get two timeout messages, one for each of my email accounts, Tbird continues to clock after those messages are received. I never changed any settings. Tbird was working perfectly before this. I can receive the emails on my cell phone when attached to the same wifi network as my desktop.

Make sure Thunderbird isn't blocked by a personal firewall.

I checked my Windows firewall and Tbird was not on the allowed list so I added it, allowed it and I still have the same problem.

The Windows firewall allows outgoing connections by default. The question was more about any personal firewall you may have installed. That would include a firewall as part of an anti-virus/security suite software.

I have Avast home, it has never given me a problem. I turned off the Avast protection for my email and Tbird still won't download emails. I must add that I can send emails but Tbird cannot save tell email in its archive.

I have used Tbird with yahoo for about two years and no problems. Now, starting about 2 weeks ago, I can't access yahoo emails through Tbird. After searching for an answer I have learned through yahoo that you must use POP instead of IMAP with Tbird and of course, they charge a fee for that to get the correct settings through yahoo plus. Has anyone else run into this ?

SFmedic,

Please raise your own thread for your problem. Your statement about Yahoo is not correct.
