Upgrading to Firefox 3.6

Firefox 3.6 is the latest major version of Mozilla Firefox which was released on January 21st, 2010. This article describes how to upgrade to Firefox 3.6.

Upgrading from Firefox 3.0.x or 3.5.x

If you use your Linux distribution's packaged version of Firefox, you will need wait for an updated package to be released to its package repository.

If you installed Firefox manually (without using your distribution's package manager)To upgrade to Firefox 3.6, you need to be using the latest update to Firefox 3.0 or 3.5:

  1. Open the Help menu and click Check for Updates.... If there is an update available, follow the instructions in the Software Update window to download and install it. You will need to restart Firefox after updating.

  2. Once you have the latest Firefox 3.0 or 3.5 update, use Help > Check for Updates... again, to upgrade to Firefox 3.6.

Most changes in Firefox 3.6 are improvements to stability and performance.

  • You may hide the Menu bar by opening the View, selecting Toolbars, and then clicking Menu Bar. After hiding the Menu bar, you can display it by pressing Alt.
  • Full Screen mode is now available. To turn on Full Screen mode, open View and then select Full Screen.
