Is there a way to apply a setting of message list columns to all folders in Thunderbird?

I saw one posting that said you could do it for each account but when I tried that nothing changed. I was able to get it to work with a single folder and it's children.

I'm running Thunderbird 115.2.0 / Windows 10 64bit

When I set up a filter for junk mail, it asks "When do you want to move" I DO NOT want to move it anywhere I want it DELETED. Not move to trash where I have to "run junk filter" again or again delete it. In filter when you select DELETE it should be deleted. Otherwise what is the purpose of "JUNK" filter. Who wants to save junk?

Thunderbird flatpak not loading profile after reboot and impossible to import profile

    1. What Happens

Everything worked fine. Computer simply shut off due to low battery. I rebooted, and when I opened Thunderbird flatpak version 115.1.1 (thunderbird-flatpak - 1.0), the "set up account" screen showed up with none of my previous settings and accounts.

    1. What I Tried

I tried importing my profile manually, but in the console it gives the following error: ``` Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: Could not open the file at /home/user/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird/prefs.js ```

I tried importing both `~/.thunderbird` and `~/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird` and it gave the same error.

Then, I tried moving all my data from `~/.thunderbird` to a `~/thunderbird-backup` folder, create a new profile *fake* in with the thunderbird "set up account" screen, delete the data it just created in the new `~/.thunderbird` profile, and finally move back in my data from `/thunderbird-backup`.

Now the error `Uncaught (in promise) DOMException` does not show up anymore. However, it does not resolve the issue.

It looks like the import operation works fine, as it tells me it is finished and that it needs to reboot. However, when it reboots, it comes back again with the same "set up account" screen, and none of my data is on there.

Any idea what’s going on? Also, why are there two `.thunderbird/` folder with profiles in it (one in `~/.thunderbird` and one in `~/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird`)? Is it part of the problem?

Hello! I accidentally hit 'K' with a thread selected, and so got a message at the bottom of the screen saying that replies to the thread will not be shown. This is the same situation as in the now-archived question [[Accidentally pressed "K" on an email - can no longer find it|https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1380096]].

I'm now writing because I *was* able to select the option to display ignored threads described in the reply to the question above – so that I can, at least, now see the thread that I accidentally ignored without meaning to. But I'd like to actually fix the problem and un-ignore it.

I've read the support article on Ignoring Threads, but what that article describes – namely applying 'Ignore' to the same thread so that it toggles off to unignore the thread – isn't working. I also tried quitting Thunderbird entirely after doing that and then reopening it, but I can still only see the thread if 'view' is set to still display ignored threads; when I remove that view instruction, the thread disappears again.

Does anyone know if there's something else I should try? Or is this maybe a bug in Thunderbird that needs to be fixed? Thanks so much in advance!

Hello, I'm migrating from Outlook Express to Thunderbird 102, in Windows 8.1. I'd like to import my Address Book (.wab file) into TB 102. It seems a direct import is not possible (?). I have to convert my .wab file to a .csv file that TB can import. But doing so, I loose all the organization of my old address book (1500 contacts and tens of folders and sub-folders) ! How can I save the organization (folders) of my old address book in TB ? Tks in advance for your answers and solutions.

I'm trying to set up multiple Sky (Yahoo) email accounts on Thunderbird. The first email account works fine but the 2nd one just populates the mailbox with the same emails as the first. I can see both accounts emails separately if I access them via other email software.

I am setting up IMAP &SMTP with the same details ie yahoo versions but user name is different for both ie this works fine for Gmail accounts

Any ideas?

I had to leave Thunderbird because every time I try and create a customized signature, as much as Thunderbird excels in that area, the image storage drops the filename's path every time.

Example:

image loaded: http://rich.allcorn.us/files/headshot.png

when I go back to it: headshot.jpg

It forgets the path, so the file doesn't show up in the eMail. I purposefully put it "on the web" so it could be accessed from anywhere!

When is Thunderbird going to fix this so I can leave Apple's mail program and go back to Thunderbird?

I have connected my wifes outlook acc. and my Gmail acc. without issue, one on each of the user profiles, but with the 3rd my Outlook acc, I keep getting the "Unable to log in at server..." error. The Name/email/password are all correct. I have tried connecting my 3rd email account (+New/Existing Mail Account) as the 2nd account on different profiles but I get the same error trying to connect my Outlook acc.. I have verified that Thunderbird is configured to accept cookies. Is there some issue with having 2 outlook accounts linked to the same instance of Thunderbird?? (I hope not!! - that would be a complete deal-breaker!) Is there anything else I can try? Many thanks

After TB 115 update (maybe sooner) it became possible to put unified folder into favorites. It works quite well that it until restarting the client.

Issue: After restarting the TB unified folder stays marked as favorite but hides in favorite list. To "unhide" the unified folder under favorite folder list I have to uncheck favorite > check favorite on that specific folder.

Conceit question How do i keep unified folder visible under favorite list after restarting the Thunderbird 115 ?

I'm open to use plugin but i would prefer fixing the already implemented feature.

Hey! Question about thunderbird (but if it can be done on a different email app I'm with it) Inheriting an inbox which has thousands of emails being forwarded to one address Don't want to mark all as read at once, is there a way of adding each address to different boxes so I can open and deal with them one at a time? (and, so the "email opened" can ping as I go through them, not in one instant) Thanks!

I've been a faithful Thunderbird user since the beginning - and continue to use Thunderbird with our company's Microsoft365 deployment

until Monday of this week -- when suddenly I find that my credentials are being refused.

The symptoms

I've read and tried all the fixes proposed in the article at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/microsoft-oauth-authentication-and-thunderbird-202 (restarting thunderbird after each step, naturally)

  • have authorized Thunderbird to our Microsoft365 tenant
  • created and tried registering with a new thunderbird profile
  • have set my security settings to 'accept all cookies'
  • have used the config editor to remove 'oauth2.issuer' and 'oauth2.scope' values
  • I've checked that my account in Microsoft365 has IMAP and Authenticated SMTP enabled

So, since Monday, I've been living in hell, trying to pretend that the Microsoft Outlook app for macOS is useable, but it's practically debilitating to be forced to use that piece of software.

Can somebody please point me to another possible set of steps that I can use to try and diagnose this?

I absolutely hate myself for having to ask for help on this, but I'm at my wit's end...

I have made many attempts to move Thunderbird from my old Windows machine to my new one. The old machine was running Windows 8.1, the new one is Windows 11. I've exported, then imported using all the different ways listed but can't get all the data. I've had some success doing it one account at a time including my address book and accounts setup information and they are working properly but can't get the folder data for my accounts or any Local Folders for some reason. I don't want to mess up what I've been able to successfully migrate so I'm reluctant to doing a mass migration again. Is there a way I can migrate doing it one folder at a time without messing up the other ones?
