I know I have to pair the device to sync bookmarks. I actually don't have the other device anymore. How can I retrieve my bookmarks? I thought my account had all these saved up. Is there a way to find my bookmarks just by looking up my account? I can't believe I need that other device to sync!

When you set up the Sync service, do you recall writing down or otherwise saving your Recovery key, also known as a Sync key? In order to connect a system to Sync without a pair code from a device already connected to the account, you'll need to track down that key.

IMPORTANT: Do not request a new recovery key. This will delete all previously uploaded information.

I have tried that as well. I didn't write down the Recovery key from the other device. I guess I just lose all my bookmarks. I am so upset. My account should have all that saved. This was very useless.

You account data is saved on the Sync server, but without the Sync Key / Recovery Key there's no way top decrypt that data. That Key is the encryption / decryption "key".
