Website images in New Tab page are gone (except for one). I followed the Help directions to restore them. Nothing happened. They are still gone.

All but one of the images on the 'new tab' page are gone. I followed the FFox Help directions exactly & repeatedly. Nothing happened. The images are still gone. Restarting the computer did not help either.

I have Windows Seven.

The thumbnails on the about:newtab page are generated from the cache, so if the page is not in the cache or otherwise can't or won't (secure pages) be rendered as a PNG image then you will get an empty box.

  • Do not use Clear Recent History to clear data like the cache and the history when you close Firefox

If there is no history then you get an about:newtab page with empty boxes (no URLs).

Thanks, Cor-el.

Odd though that the images showed up for a while, then disappeared. Vanished-image sites include Gmail, Google calendar, & FB. Also used to include the local online newspaper, whose newtab image I was able to get back. I wonder if Firefox is at war with Google? Or if there is some setting in Google that I should change? Or is this as a security feature --

If websites send a no-store header then Firefox may not store those pages in the cache and in that case you also won't get thumbnails on the about:newtab page.

It'd be great if a user was allowed to add a custom image. Without it, it looks like something's wrong with FF.
