I am getting SO tired of being told to stop or close the page THAT I AM USING to speed up my browser. How is that going to help anything? If I stop the page that I am USING, then I cannot do what I want to do. How about you stop cramming in so much garbage that the browser cannot run properly?

And, yes, I know...this is an obsolete computer....so what?

As a Firefox Support Forum contributor, I understand your frustration with the browser's performance. It can be challenging when you're asked to stop or close a page you're using to speed up the browser. One way to address this issue is to try clearing your browser cache and cookies. Outdated data in the cache can sometimes slow down the browser. Additionally, you can disable unnecessary add-ons or extensions that might be affecting performance. If your computer is older, it might struggle with newer Firefox versions, so you could consider trying the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) version, which is optimized for stability on older systems. Remember to regularly update Firefox and your operating system for better performance.

Actually the ESR channel versions is meant more for Enterprise users in mind so they get more stability longer term.

  • Make sure you have uBlock Origin installed, no other ad blockers and as few other extensions as possible.
  • It might help to refresh your profile.
  • Uninstall any third-party antivirus or security software that could be slowing down your system.
