Firefox opens new window when I open my editor(geany) or terminal program(terminator) How to stop this?

This started after I upgraded my Ubuntu to 23.04
You can try Firefox from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution to see if it behaves differently.
This did NOT solve my problem and now I have lost all my tabs and bookmarks.
