Now when I click on the url entry top part of the screen it is very sluggish and often does not flow well. The screen flickers parts black when I try to play a video on facebook and just keeps flickering while it plays the video. When I maximize and minimize I can see the parts of the screen go black which is also my background color.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver.
