Trying to access address bar causes Firefox to become non-responsive

After a long history of usage today firefox on Android became unusable. Whenever I tap the address bar the firefox hangs (see the screenshot). Tried cleaning up all data, reinstall, usage with or without firefox profile. I tried both firefox and firefox-beta-- the same issue. Android 11 (4.14.180) on moto g(8)
