Chosen solution

Is it possible that some extension is causing the problem?

Try running Firefox on safemode to disable all extensions to see if that fixes the issue. If it does, try disabling one extension at a time to see which one is causing the problem, then disable it for good and contact its author for support.

I can close tabs fine via the X, but my problem is that there is no + to click on to add a tab. Interestingly, if I click where the + should be, it does open a new tab. All I want it to have the + indicator back for visualization instead of just clicking in a blank space.

Hi, Tln.

I was doing some housekeeping and came back for one last look before deleting the link to this page. I was surprised to see your post!

What you describe seems unrelated to the problem this thread looked into, which was eventually cured. It might be an idea to post again elsewhere if you haven't already.

I'm no expert in this area to be honest, but has this co-incided with an add-on update or a change in F'fox 'persona'? That might be a pointer, and you might have to go through the chore of turning off add-ons one-by-one to identify the culprit. Also, have you tried rolling back to an earlier version of Firefox without tinkering with add-ons to see what happens? And finally, and this might sound a bit daft, but on my laptop the + appears quite faint, and if I increase the brightness settings it's harder to see. Might be something as silly as that - but I'd be very surprised if it was. Not tech problem was EVER that simple!

Good luck,

Kif

Such an issue can also be caused by a problem with the file localstore.rdf
So if you still have that problem the give it a try.

A similar issue with ffx 4.0.1.

In my case it seems it was a faulty update of an extension (ImageTweak) or a conflict between extensions.

See what I did to fix it for my case here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2215613&p=10868969#p10868969

If it's not the same issue for everybody I think a similar approach can be used to find out which extension is the "faulty" one.

Cheers and good luck.
