When I originally set up a POP account in Thunderbird for Mac some years ago, my address was at interchange.ubc.ca, then the POP server migrated to mail.ubc.ca

In Account Settings, my e-mail address, POP server name, and Copies and Folders names all reference mail.ubc.ca (as they should).

But in my ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/<profileName>/Mail folder, the POP folder is still named pop.interchange.ubc.ca.

(N.B. <profileName> is a placeholder for my actual profile name, not displayed here for security reasons)

I have many filters set up to move messages to specific folders at the same level as my Inbox in my mail.ubc.ca POP mailbox, but whenever I restart Thunderbird and run a filter, I get the error, "The folder 'folderName' could not be found, so filter(s) associated with this folder will be disabled. Verify that the folder exists, and that filters point to a valid destination folder." (N.B. <folderName> is a placeholder here, for example it might be "Trash")

I can then select the destination folder in the "Choose folder ..." dropdown menu and run the filter, but whenever I restart Tbird, I get the same error all over again.

In the msgFilterRules.dat file for this account, I see lines like these: "actionValue="mailbox://<username>@pop.interchange.ubc.ca/<folderName>", e.g. actionValue="mailbox://<username>@pop.interchange.ubc.ca/Junk"

[N.B. <username> is a placeholder for my actual username

I'm wondering if this is due to a mismatch between the POP server name and the name of the POP mailbox folder in the Finder. Is it safe to change the name of the latter to "pop.mail.ubc.ca", and should this fix the problem? Will this automatically update the server name in the msgFilterRules.dat file, or do I have to edit it to replace all references to "pop.interchange.ubc.ca" with "pop.mail.ubc.ca".

If it is not safe to do this, or it is unlikely to fix the problem, any advice as to what to try instead would be greatly appreciated!

I've hit the refresh button 1000s of times to get halfway through my emails I'm still a few months from current it downloads 1-3 emails most of the time when hitting refresh all. And most of the help I found for this stuff is very out of date.

Thunderbird was configured to send & receive via Cox /yahoo mail. Worked until recently but can no longer send or receive.

Is there a setting that allows me to exclude all this? I cannot recognize any kind of setting in "Settings" or "Account Settings" that allows me to control this issue. Best regards, Rudi Abel

Curious if there is a way to turn off email notifications for only some email accounts logged into Thunderbird. We have several different email accounts we monitor with my business, and we don't require a notification for all of them & would love if there was a way to select which accounts you want live notifications for. I recently upgraded to Thunderbird 128, and now I have very strange things happen when I filter messages. After I type one or two or sometimes three characters into the Filter field Thunderbird freezes. If I continue typing the additional characters don't appear in Filter, nothing happens in filtering, and my mouse cursor disappears when it is in the Thunderbird window (it appears normally if outside the window). After several seconds everything starts working OK, and my messages get filtered.

So, in the end I can filter messages, but this freezing is frustrating and a waste of time.

I am using Thunderbird (ver. 128.1.0esr) as my email client. I have two Internet Service providers: Xfinity(Comcast) and AT&T. I can't send emails when using AT&T but can when using Xfinity. Can receive emails OK on both. Why is this?

I get the green light for creating an account... but it goes yellow tag when I click Done. Will you help, please. I am able to log into my account online with the same PW I have to use in setting up the Thunderbird account. Thanks from a donation customer. //... Joe

Is there a way to set/change the organizer of an event in Calendar?

I'd like to create an event but set someone else in my address book as the organizer to whom all event replies will be sent. This is useful, for example, when my account is limited to ME@localhost and my Mail Transport Agent does address conversions.

I deleted a work account (hosted on google) and I keep getting pop-ups from Oauth to authenticate it. Looking at the troubleshooting information while it is not in the mail and news accounts list it does show up as an account.

Also, looking at the profile directories I seem to also see possible accounts that were deleted a long time ago but still straggling around.

How can I resolve this?

All email files on this windows10 laptop appear to have become encypted (inbox and sent and all defined folders). Able to access and view them all, but when sent to printer, they remain encrypted and print encrypted code. Have tried reinstalling Thunderbird, over previous installation.Have not tried uninstalling thunderbird before reinstalling.

For years I have used the extension 'Calendar Tweaks' because it colorizes the entire event in the calendar. This extension is no longer compatible with versions of Thunderbird after 74 so I have stop updation after Version 69. However in resolving problems with authorization I needed to update to the current Version of Thunderbird so my events in the calendar now just show the category color at the edge of the box instead of the entire box. Is there a way in Thunderbird to colorize the entire event box or another extension that does this.

Cox/Yahoo/ Thunderbird Configuration was working until two days ago. Yesterday could no longer send or receive from Thunderbird. Today Thunderbird INBOX, and Inbox tab no longer available. Opens to Drasft folder.

With the latest Thunderbird update (128.1.0esr) I am seeing frequent "not responding" situations. It eventually does come back. Am I doing something wrong? I am on a PC running Windows 10.

Hi,

   I've used Thunderbird on Linux for about 20 years and it has worked flawlessly connecting to my ISP mail for both sending and receiving messages. About 2 weeks ago I tried to send a mail and got an internal error back from the ISP SMTP  server that the message was being blocked as possible spam. POP continued to work fine.

I tried renaming my local .thunderbird directory and downloading the latest version of Thunderbird to try a fresh install. It behaved exactly the same way.

   The frustrating thing is that KMail, an alternate Linux mailer works fine with the exact settings that fail on Thunderbird. I can also send mail from my phone when connected to the same ISP wifi as the Linux machine. 
   I am not sending out messages to large groups of recipients. It will fail (but work in Kmail   and K9Mail on Android) with a trivial test message to myself. 

Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this? I like Thunderbird but can't use it if I can never send mail.
