Cannot upload image, the page re-renders

Ever since the Firefox for Android 79 was released I cannot upload an image to any website. For example the form where I am typing this question has a field Add images (optional):. When I click the Browse button below it, the system select dialog appears, I select an image and when I click Done, Firefox returns to the page and re-renders it as if the app is restarted, and the chosen image does not appear in the field. I noticed that if I spend very little time in the select file dialog, e.g. choose one of the recent images, the file selection is successful – it appears in the form field and can be uploaded. I don’t know if is connected to this issue but when I switch quickly (like less than 5 seconds) to a messaging app to retrieve anaccess code for example, the page is re-rendered again. Tried installing and uninstalling to no avail. Reinstalled the last version before the Firefix Daylight upgrade, 69.11.0, and there I had no problem. I am using Samsung Galaxy A10 with Androud 10.

Hi Chankov,

Firefox standard version or any other browser on any platform uses 300-500 Mb for loading large websites I recommend using firefox lite for your mobile. The behaviour what you are experiencing is due to lack of memory on your phone.

Don't uninstall standard version, try uploading on different browsers. If you are facing the issue on firefox only please reply back. I recommend using firefox lite for you

Hi Mohamed, I have the same issue on every website. You can check with support.mozilla.org.

I started to suspect strongly that the main cause of my issue is the device. I use Samsung Galaxy A10, model SM-A105FN.

This is a big and quite ubiquitous issue. I get unnecessary re-rendering on many tabs on my phone. Back on version 68, this was not an issue, on my very same phone. How did the new Firefox get so bloated? It should not need all that extra memory to render pages when it used to be able to do it just fine on the old implementation. We were told that the new Gecko-view version of Firefox is faster than the old one, but this constant re-rendering actually makes it slower.

Since this issue came up with the Firefox Daylight update I have been always using another browser to upload images: first DuckDuckGo, then EInkBrowse. Both use Android Web View and function normally with 2GB RAM available on my phone.

Google Play Store says that Firefox Lite is not available in my country. The github README says Firefox Lite is currently in Maintenance Mode. No active feature is being done on the product.

On top of it all the page re-rendering issue started to appear on the pre-GeckoView Firefox (68.11.0) as well. Obviously my phone is overburdened %-(
