First confirm that the laptop is connected to the internet:

Command Prompt > "ping 8.8.8.8".

If you get a reply try starting your laptop in safe mode with networking, download the installer for your desired browser and attempt to reinstall it.

If you do not get a reply then revise your internet connection settings.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Check the laptop and firewall.

Some laptops have an external hard switch. Also open your network control panel. Check ALL settings.

Open the Firewall. Some have a kind of master cutoff switch. Remove ALL rules for Every program.

Book mark and use this; Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

Settings Guard for Firefox {web link} Detects and resets changes to settings that are frequently done by add-ons and application installers.
