Using old laptop with windows 7, cannot open any website at all, used other browsers and have the same problem
In the last week my laptop wont start coz of a windows problem, i had to restore it from an earlier image, then my browsers wont open any websites even though im connected to the internet. My ipad can use the internet perfectly

you should just delete the file user.js nothing else in the directory ......\something.default
Not the whole directory !!
Try as Jakorm suggested to ping 8.8.8.8 and see if you can connect to internet at all. And then try safe-mode.
What program or service is your firewall, and virus protection?
Here is an experiment. Turn off the firewall, but for only a moment. Now have Firefox go to Mozilla.org and see if it worked.
Nope, turning off firewall doesnt work, i do have an expired norton, could this be the case?
But its been expired for months, i had this problem for only a month by now
