I googled Mozilla contact and got "Guruaid", who took control of my computer. Are they bona fide?

Had a problem with Mozilla and thought, initially, that I had contacted an official Mozilla support centre by phone.(They were top of the Google list). Guruaid are based in India. They were helpful and did resolve the issue but, in doing so, took control of the computer for about 4 hours. I was persuaded to purchase a 2 year warranty and advised to have them clean and service my computer every 1 or 2 months. How can I check that they are bona-fide and is itsafe to let them have control? I have changed some passwords, in case, but would I need to do this every time they got access? Grateful for any advice.

It is up to you to keep paying them and to allow access to your computer.

The Mozilla contact page is https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contact/spaces/ which can be found on bottom of many mozilla.org pages. It is not for support purposes though.

Mozilla does not do one on one support by phone, email or instant chat whether official or third-party. Nor do Mozilla charge for any support. There was a volunteer chat support in limited hours each day before for a while here though. The only official options for support of products like Firefox is this https://support.mozilla.org/ , in irc.mozilla.org (channels like #sumo and #firefox) and the Mozilla newsgroups. There is also the active independent forums.mozillaZIne.org which has been around since Nov 4th 2002 if you want more help options and has the #mozillazine channel in irc.mozilla.org

There was a third-party pay for email support service several years ago that was not so good (clipboard replies) and short-lived and likely why Mozilla never used a third-party service since.

hello doolally, those links were probably paid search ads - mozilla isn't related to this company in any way and like most other vendors of free software mozilla doesn't offer telephone support at all. the official place where mozilla provides support (always free of charge) is here at support.mozilla.org!

Thanks Philipp. I just wonder if it is safe to give them remote access and if I need to change all my passwords. Has anyone else had experience of Guruaid?
