I have encountered many instances where the spell checker marked word as non-existent though it is a legit word. I did not make a list, but the word that brought me here is "humoristic". merriam-webster as well as wiktionary mark it as legit.

Your dictionary needs a formidable expansion.

Please note that the issue is not alternate spelling but words that are missing altogether.

The many different language dictionaries that exist for Firefox do not include every single word you could find in a complete dictionary books. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/language-tools/

If the spelling is correct, you can manually add the words so they will not be marked as incorrect.
