I have access to the Primary email. That is where I got the Authorization Code. I was setting up an Account Recovery Key, not resetting it. When I entered the Authorization Code from the email I got a message confirming successful set up and instructing me to retain Account Recovery Key for future use. But what is the Key? Message did not include a Key number or phrase. Is the Account Recovery Key the same as the Authorization Code I received in the email? Confused!

You need to copy the recovery key from the Firefox Account Settings page. The confirmation send via email may only to verify that you own this account (I would expect that you only need to enter the password) and you should be able to proceed after you have entered this code.

You may need a fresh login to the accounts.firefox.com website to generate new recovery codes via the settings page, so if necessary logout and login again.

Not sure but if you did request password reset that should be what it send you unless your referring to a QR scan code and that would require a smartphone to do that reset with.

The OP was only asking what the recovery key was used for. The OP has access to primary email and was not reseting password.
