Thunderbird does not show email addresses on Security page nor does save my passwords. I have to enter my password every time I want to use my email. When first entering email account info, the small box to save password is shaded out, unable to check box.

Which "Security page" is this? What path through the menu takes you to it?

more options

From the Menu bar: Tools-Options-Security-Passwords.

The page comes up blank after clicking on passwords. The email logins should show here and the passwords being used can be found here also.

It will only be there if it is saved. You said that the save option was greyed out.

Have you tried restarting Thunderbird with add-ons disabled from the help menu. I think an add-on, perhaps inserted by your anti virus, may well be the cause.

Yes I have started with add-ons disable. I have also turned off all anti-virus and firewall and any other start-up programs I could. All with no luck. I am sure it is something in my computer, but I can't find it. I have been using TB for over 7 years and never have had a problem. This all started after receiving the latest Win 10 update.

Try this: Make hidden files and folders visible

In thunderbird

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • click on 'show Folder'

a new window opens showing contents of your profile name folder.

  • Close Thunderbird now - this is important
  • Scroll down - locate and delete this file: key3.db
  • Restart Thunderbird.

Try to enter password and select Password Manager to remember

Please report back on results.

Tried this several times as you directed. Still no change, password box is shaded, unable to click on it.

What about throwing away any and all old profiles and ini s and then doing a clean install. Not sure how to get rid of all the old stuff.
