Hello ollifantC, the only article that contains most About:config entries is the next: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries

remember newest entries does not exist...yet ! :-), needs an update :-)

if you want something specific, please ask again and definitely someone will give you the answer. :-)

thank you

I have been using this - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/config-descriptions/ - for the last two or three years. It "pulls" whatever developer comments it finds in the source code and displays the comments in about:config. But if there isn't a developer comment there isn't anything to display.

http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries "This page was last modified 04:33, 3 September 2015." A lot newer than I expected it to be. But it never had anywhere near "all" the prefs.

Here's one that always had more prefs listed in the early days. http://preferential.mozdev.org/preferences.html Last Updated: 2006-10-24

I used to use this - http://lxr.mozilla.org/ - to search for prefs that I wanted to learn about, but since [like] 2008 the "notes" seemed to diminish, like no one took the time to explain what the were doing. The documentation was much better when Netscape still had a stake in Mozilla development.

I am especially looking for the tags relating to:

urlclassifier. browser.url

These are not in the older versions that I have seen from the links above. I then started to think that there may be others.

I have tried to get rid of: 1) The "visit" that pops up in the address bar (I found one way, but I am afraid that they will kill this next itteration. 2) I like using HOLA and as it is not signed (I know it has its faults, but living in a country with much censorship, I don't have a choice) I have had to work around the signing permissions.

These two got my interest piqued and I started to see that there are a lot of things that don't show up in the preferences, and as I am a control freak, I just have to see what I can do!

Hi ollifantC, preferences starting with

browser.urlbar.*

go back a long way, but new ones are added and old ones are removed from time to time and, as you noticed, the default value of this one changed from false to true in Firefox 43:

browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete

Sometimes you need to search the exact preference name in the source code. (And sometimes that doesn't work because the code references a base portion of the preference name and refers to the rest of the preference name separately. It's a challenge.)

Although it is the work-in-process for future releases and not the current release, I often use the following site because it loads pages more quickly than the main site:
