When I opened Firefox for iOS this morning, a notification popped up that looks like a scam. I immediately quit Firefox. When I reopened it, a page opened that looked like it was part of this scam, and the same notification popped up. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don’t seem to be able to post a photo to this thread (I’m now using safari on iOS), so I’ll reproduce the phishy notification, with all the same capitalizations:

http.amazon.gift-cards-info.com Dear client Mci Communications Services inc. Dba Verizon Business, congratulations!

We would like to thank you for your loyalty to Mci Communications Services inc. Dba Verizon Business, and thus we offer you an exclusive chance to get a Amazon $1000 Gift Card today - August 25 (Saturday), 2018. All you have to do is choose the correct gift box. Good luck!

This scam is known about as it has been reported every so often for the past months now. There are three so called prizes normally as in iPhone X, a Samsung S8 or S9 or a $1000 gift card from some place like say Amazon. I have screen shots of at least six different variations of the iPhone X variant of this scam.

It is due to some malvertising Ads on some sites and the pages are random domains. It seems to be reported more by Firefox users on Android and iOS compared to Firefox users on desktop.

They are trying to trick people into giving personal details like name, address, phone#, credit card details for to pay the $1 or more to get so called prize.

Mozilla does try to take these pages down and do legal action when possible if they misuse the Firefox name and or icons. You can report such at https://www.mozilla.org/about/legal/fraud-report/
