Has anyone had these problems with FF9.01 ? (1) Will not display home page on startup -- even when set. (2) Will not display both "Firefox" menu and menu bar. (3) CTL-Shift-A will not call up the Ad-Ons Manager. In fact nothing will except typing in the URL. (4) PDF files are automatically downloaded with no choice to view and none of the Ad-ons for PDF solve this problem.

FF has another problem more anoying that the above. If I click on a URL, Firefox launches but with an empty URL in the navigation box. I think I will need to start from scratch and re-install Firefox: What do you think?

Chosen solution

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

To Cor-El. I have created a new profile and have tried to produce the errors I had before. So far I have not been able to reproduce the errors so this is looking good. I would say that pending some of the other dozens of problems I had and have not tested your suggestion seems to have solved the problem. And I didn't even have to reset my options. THANK YOU.

You're welcome.

If there are multiple problems like in your case then best is to try a new profile.
