Once again Firefox has decided to take over and change all my settings! I had finally managed to prevent it updating, as each and every time I had to reinstall all my setting and extentions from scratch. Today, it decided to clear all my preferences and change itself to its own default settings. OK, so I can change my profile option, except all three are using the same defaults: I appear to have lost all my settings and extensions entirely. OK, I'll copy from my backup, but once again the three backup profiles are being overwritten with the defaults. Even my third backup of last March overwrites to the defaults! How and why is Firefox managing to keep overwriting my defaults to its own preferred settings? How do I stop it doing this and regain my own preferences?

I also tried Sync and now I am getting bookmarks from over five years ago! And once again my settings are changing to the defaults. Surely a Sync should overwrite with the current bookmarks and settings not just keep adding more and more. I am now in a right mess again. Back to losing everything with updates. I am a great believer in the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' mentality, but Firefox has broken itself and is refusing to allow me to change to how it used to be! How do I restore my own preferences and prevent Firefox from changing them to what it wants.

Within 24 hours this weekend I was notified by my anti virus application (Avast) that they are no longer supporting Firefox browser (to concentrate on Outlook and Chrome), and a political news website that I frequent (Meidas) blocked me with a "captcha" type puzzle. The website said my browser was mimicking robot or bot use. I was presented with a puzzle requiring me to slide a tab rightward. It repeatedly told me I had slid the tab incorrectly. I believe all of this happened after an update of Firefox about the middle of last week.

I have two monitors; I keep my taskbar on the right monitor and run Firefox on the left monitor. For some reason, whenever Firefox gets minimized, the window moves to whichever monitor the taskbar is on (I've done some testing to confirm it is specifically the monitor the task bar is on). Because I also run a program called max.to to separate my right monitor into different sections, this action of minimizing to, and restoring to, the wrong monitor is also resizing my Firefox window.

Is there any way, any option I've overlooked, that would get Firefox to minimize and restore to whichever monitor is is actually running on?

I've attached an image that shows, as best I can get it, the window moving over to the task bar monitor when minimizing.

After I boot my computer, I can access any of the sites I usually use, but only once. If I then close the site and attempt to open it again (or to open any of the other affected sites), I get the following message: " Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to phoenixcommons.cohousing.site. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

Error code: PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

   The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
   Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."

The site shown in the error message above is the one I most ofen use, but other very common sites (e.g. Google.com) exhibit the same problem:

" Secure Connection Failed

   The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

Yeah, right. I'm supposed to contact Alphabet and inform of the problem?

In contrast, some sites (e.g. The New York Times, The Washington Post) are not affected.

I can paste affected URLs into another browser (I used Brave) and access them with no problems.

BROKEN: Videos automatically play upon landing on a website. I don't want video autoplay. I had that FIXED at one point, but with the new update, all of my settings were discarded, and now I'm back to square one. I do not want video autoplay! Now, on to the next question: many complaints have been lodged on various 'help' pages and forums describing the same problem; my question is, in light of all of these complaints, why hasn't Firefox FIXED this problem and issued an update with the repair patches?! On my version of FF, Mac 126, all video controls in settings have disappeared. WHY? Where did they go? Not that they worked anyway because we had to muck about in about:config with various patches WHICH NO LONGER WORK ON MY MAC! Why is there not a simple ON/OFF switch, in Settings, for those of us who want the choice?! When are FF boffins going to FIX this to our satisfaction, with a WORKING, simple-selectable solution? I await a reply from a knowledgeable Firefox technician, one who preferably works on this part of the browser, please. Help me understand, or make me happy, preferably both.

when it comes to buying a new pc I will switch out to another browser, shame a good 12 years with FF.

I hve discussede the matter with my banks IT-department, but they answer me that recently they have heard about the same problem concerning Firefox login and said that the problem have to be fixed by Mozilla/Firefox

I'm running the latest version of Firefox (126.0) on an iMac, OS 14.4.1. Starting a couple days ago, i was no longer to (consistently) minimize Firefox browser windows by double-clicking on the browser window title bar. I'm able to minimize the window INCONSISTENTLY and only very infrequently via double-clicking, but with no obvious pattern. This problem only occurs with Firefox. I have no problem minimizing any other browser or application windows.

My Mac OS settings are always set to "Double-click a window's title bar to minimize."

I can minimize via Command-M, but i prefer to double click. I vaguely remember this occurring on another iMac of mine some years ago, but don't remember if i found a fix, or if it went away on its own.

About tab crashes Every time I open Firefox, it crashes immediately and does not trigger the crash report window. Even though I have checked and enabled the option to send crash reports in the settings, it doesn't work. When I look for crash report logs, it shows that I have not sent any crash reports.I've tried many methods to view the crash report, but it just shows that there are none. I only found this information related to crash reports in the installation files.(you can see it in the picture)，hope someone can answer this question, thank you very much.😭

I am a website administrator and I have noticed a lot of 404 errors in my site's CDN access logs. The requested paths are all "/", and the user-agents are all "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/55.0". The client source IPs are distributed, and the ASNs are also diverse. The requests are made to a domain specifically used for static resources (css, js), and the referer is my main website. I suspect there might be a specific bug with Firefox/55.0. Can anyone help me confirm this?

Hi, this is going to be a long one, so many things... Using Firefox the latest Ubuntu LTS, with the latest Firefox from Snap. I'm a very long term Firefox user, never had any real troubles unit recently. I have a vast number of cookies, saved passwords and so on. Reinstalling or deleting cookies or such isn't an option unless fixes are guaranteed to work - if I have to start over then I'll do it with Opera, that is where my grumpiness indicator is at.

The set up is two monitors (working as a single 'screen') attached to an Aspire PC (Aspire X seems to be the model?). I tend to have 'stuff' going on in the left hand monitor, YouTube on the right. The PC is on all day. I know there are log files, but I don't know which is for what or where they are. I use AdBlocker Ultimate.

So what's happening is: Firefox crashes quite often at any time - 'Firefox is not responding - force quit or wait' - always have to quit. There doesn't seem to be any repeatable way to cause this, it seems random.

When the mouse enters the YouTube window (the drawing area, not the actual window) it disappears until the pointer moves out of the window. Jiggling the window size sometimes brings it back, but...

When the mouse pointer actually appears the window is completely unresponsive - clicks don't work, nothing highlights and so on. After somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds things will work for 2 or 3 mouse actions (clicks, drags etc) then do it again. Unless I give it plenty of time, clicking on a video will play a pretty random one - Firefox seems to lose track of where the pointer is.

If I comment on a video the I get about 5 to 10 characters in then nothing happens for 10 to 20 seconds, then any queued characters are shown. Rinse and repeat until the comment is complete - it takes ages.

YouTube is the biggest problem, but there are some glitches in other Firefox windows, I'm supposing that the problems are audio/video related.

None of the above happens with Opera. It's getting to the stage where Firefox is unusable.

I've googled and searched this site but the there seems no solution.

I view a lot of PDFs for electronics design. And after some time with the browser running it starts to garble PDFs. I have not found a trigger. Sometimes it opens fine in a new container tab or private browsing, other times nothing will open it. Very occasionally refreshing a few times makes it load correctly. The error doesn't manifest for all PDFs at the same time. Open ones will remain viewable, and once the error occurs some new PDFs still open while others fail consistently. Sometimes opening the same PDF as a file from my local drive makes it render.

The rendering error is a bit unlike anything I've ever seen. There is a lot of X and Y spearing like it tried to render the same text and images in slightly different spots over and over again. When I switch virtual workspaces and come back some parts of the rendered page retain the contents of the previous workspace and others do not. Scrolling produces jitter and additional smearing.

One somewhat reliable way to trigger the error is to put the laptop to sleep and wake it up. That always causes PDFs to exibit this error but often refreshing the PDF will work to restore it. Not reliably though.

I've attached an image of the error captured with my phone because neither screenshots nor OBS can actually "see" the garbage on screen. Apologies that this error is so full of inconsistent behavior. I've lived with this for some time now in the hopes that it was a temporary problem and tried to work out what causes it but I can't find anything other than putting the laptop to sleep being a cause, and even then it is not the sole cause.

Lately, I used "Bing" in Firefox browser,but it often show no result and give one message about “Missing children". I think this is very strange, so I try to search in the "Bing" in different browser(Firefox and Chrome),and the test is confused. when I used this string "益云公益寻儿童" as the keyword for searching, there is only one result in Firefox browser but there are many results in Chrome browser.please see below images ( image 1 and image 2). At the same time ,there are also many results in "Baidu" in Firefox(image 3). Next I changed another keywords"天气预报",but there is still the big difference between them. when I Searching ,I closed all the plugins. So I think this is strongly related to Firefox browser. This phenomena makes "Bing search" very unpredictable so that I often got no result. please help me! thanks.

My firefox disappeared after i found out someone using Windows 7 used my hotmail account address.I dont know how to rectify this and get my firefox back and change my email address with both Mozilla and Microsoft Outlook

The blinking screen is on ebay but it just keeps on blinking. I have tried other programs and it only happens with this one and only with ebay. Hi. I am having problems with pages in some websites not loading - eg games on Facebook, my account page in my bank website, etc. Facebook works fine but games do not load anymore (just get the loading message but the circle just keeps spinning, and I can login to my bank but it won't load any further pages. The games problem first started around February with one or two games, but has subsequently become worse so the ONLY game that will load is Happy Acres! The problem with my bank (and a couple of others) started about a week or so ago. I've been (reluctantly) using Microsoft Edge the past couple of days with no problem other than it's sloooooow!! Was thinking of downloading Chrome but haven't done so yet. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful. Many thanks in advance.

The Lower Toolbar is quite handy, with for example Roboform.

Unfortunately, the way it's implemented, it comes above the lower part of the browser window, instead of being inserted at the bottom while the browser windows height is reduced.

That hides the search box when you type Control-F.

It would be nice if this could be addressed in a future release. I am using Firefox Developer 127.0b2.
