When I have multiple tabs open in Firefox, and switch from one tab to another, the tab "auto-refreshes" and reloads the page. This is very inconvenient, especially when writing blog posts, etc. How do I turn this feature off?

You can check the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency pref on the about:config page to see if it has been changed from the default of 3..

You can also check the startup setting:

  • Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: When Firefox Starts:
    • Show my windows and tabs from last time

I checked. It is at 3 - so that is not a problem. Still scratching my head on this one.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
