I click the sign in link and enter my user id and password and it appears to process but I am not logged in. It does not give me any error messages. Guys I'd love to go back to Firefox 5.0 because all the new versions have been crap. I'm really tired of upgrading once a week only to find that something new is screwed up. If you can't take the time to actually fix something PLEASE don't make me your guinea pig.

Chosen solution

Google broke their Google Toolbar extension around 09-17-2011, by changing the login address for their "accounts". If you want to continue using the Google Toolbar and you will need to edit the address to the new one, because I doubt if Google is going to fix that extension - they have decided not to support Firefox 5+ versions with a new version of the Google Toolbar.

  • With Firefox closed, open the \extensions\ folder in your Profile folder, then locate this folder and open it.

  • Then you need to open the \lib\ folder to see the toolbar.js file. Open that file in a simple text editor program.
  • Save the edited file. Then start Firefox.

-> Google Toolbar is no longer compatible with Firefox - Here are some alternatives

Starting with the release of Firefox 7, the previous versions of Firefox (4.0.x, 5.0.x, 6.0.x) are no longer maintained with Security and Stability updates. Firefox 3.6 is the last previous Firefox version that is still being maintained.

Warning: Firefox 3.6 will only be maintained with security and stability updates for a short period of time.

IF you want to Downgrade to Firefox 3.6, let me know.

Thank you both. I like my Google Toolbar and would miss it greatly. I may very well be that I just did not notice until today that it wasn't working since the 17th of Sept or maybe it didn't start acting up until I did the update a few days ago to 7.0.1. I just get tired of the constant "upgrades" that cause my web pages to not load until flashplayer updates several days or a week later. If I am reading your comment correctly then Google has discontinued supporting "any" toolbar so I can't simply until this one or upgrade it to a newer version? I think I did notice in the status bar as it was supposedly logging me in that it was accessing a Utube page which seemed kinda strange and make me wonder if I'd gotten some form of virus. I've been working more and enjoying it less so when I only have a couple hours of R&R on the computer I don't want to spend it waiting for stuff to not load or searching forums for answers as to why it isn't or jumping through hoops to make things work. I don't want to have to lose Firefox and start using IE in any version.

For webpages not loading, see this: -> Clear Cookies & Cache

-> Clear the Network Cache

-> Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

-> Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can

Check and tell if its working.

Thank you. I already know the magic clear your cache solution to web pages not loading but sometimes that does not fix the problem. Since it seems to affect Facebook stuff the most I figure it is an issue to do mostly with them and all the "wonderful" "improvements" they have made. It just gets old when that is the ONLY solution they offer and you deleted cache 3 times before you wrote to them, even saying you already had in your post. To add to the frustration my ISP has been upgrading their system for the past 3 months or so making it a guessing game as to just what is "really" the cause. It must be time to turn the computer off and just stare at the wall instead of a computer screen waiting for stuff to not load. lol So I've just done all the tweaks to clear the network cache, we'll see how much that helps. Next to delete the non-working toolbar :-( 'tis a sad day] Thanks again for all your help.

Type about:config in the Location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key. When you see a warning, click I'll be careful, I promise! button.

-> In the Filter bar, type network.http.max-connections

  • Right click the preference network.http.max-connections and choose Modify
  • change the value to 30 or 48
  • click OK

-> Close the about:config tab

  • Restart Firefox.

Check and tell if its working.

I would like to apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I had originally wanted to give it a day or two so that I could see if symptoms would go away. I would now like to thank you for your assistance. Things seems to be working for the most part. I am just extremely disappointed that all too soon if I don't get my internet on the phone I don't own, I won't be able to. I really miss the toolbar and have discovered that the sidebar has been discontinued as well so will also have to condition myself to missing the calendar and other devises in that also. I might just have to unplug the computer and become a dinosaur. Thanks for your help.
