during firfox update update crashes to fresh copy of firefox losing all passwords and bookmarks

last 4 Firefox updates (now ff 6) Firefox crashes and reopens to fresh copy of browser loosing all customizations , passwords , bookmarks. all user ids and folders with last backups also lost.
