Installing Firefox(after you've downloaded it) should leave a Firefox desktop icon which you double click to open the browser.

This is a good place to start -

As you get going, try left and right clicking everything in sight just to learn what's there.

And spend a bit of time on this page -

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/home

The mechanics and techniques are not so very different to Internet Explorer. Customization is a strength of Firefox.
