Bookmark file size increasing by 20 times

The file "places.sqlite" was in version 3.6 (or earlier) about 450 kb in size. Now in version 4 it is now 10 mb in size, about 20 times more than before. And no more content then before.

Analysing with a tool shows an bad usage..... Exporting and re-importing to a new database results in a file of a size of about 350 kb (without any favicon-informations).

This is strange and not to understand.

One more thing is maybe a "feature": reading a exported (html) bookmark file (on the desktop) without any question. Firefox was started with a shortcut-link from the desktop. And the places.sqlite file was beforehand deleted. Is maybe just a feature ....

That is done purposely to avoid fragmentation of the file from slowing down access. All SQLite database files have a default file size and are increased in chunks of that same size. For places.sqlite that is 10 MB.
