I have a new GMX email address. Two problems/questions: I have tried several times to add a new email account, but Thunderbird never shows the new account in its own space (with inbox/drafts and other folders). I managed to set it up partially, using the IMAP protocol options, but when I try to access the email there, the password won't connect even though I know the password is correct. When I try to use GMX's POP3 protocol options, I get an error that I have to go into email settings and activate the POP3 options, but I have not seen where those options are either in Thunderbird or in my web GMX account. Second question: Can I set this up to keep unread messages available online and read emails download to Thunderbird for storage?

Are you using the server settings given here https://support.gmx.com/pop-imap/pop3/serverdata.html ? To activate IMAP or POP3 access for your new GMX account, see https://support.gmx.com/pop-imap/toggle.html. IMAP server settings are available here https://support.gmx.com/pop-imap/imap/server.html. The server mentioned in your screenshot does not match any of the server settings published in the above-linked GMX support pages, why is that?
