Thunderbird was updated a few days ago and now, whenever I send a message, the Spell Checker window pops up. There is no word highlighted that it thinks is misspelt, but, I have to hit "Close" before message gets sent.

This never used to happen as before the message would just be sent if there were no spelling issues.

Anyone know why it is behaving like this?

Which spellcheck dictionaries do you have, names and versions? Tools/Add-ons/Dictionaries.

When I checked then I found that I had NO dictionaries! No idea why not as been using Thunderbird for years without this problem. Seems like the latest update wiped them!

Anyway, installed one and back to normal.

Thanks for the help

I dsiscovered this problem today on my Mac (TB V68.9.0) and installed British English Dictionary, but in spite of retarting TB it does not appear in the spellcheck box. In have now realised that my dictionary had been deleted. Reinstalling it fixed the problem.
