lost contact to aol sending mail

I use ...@aol.com mail for years. Now it works anymore with thunderbird. I get these messages: The first one says : Connected with smtp.aol.com The second one: the connection with outgoing (smtp) server smtp.aol.com was broken during sending mail. I for years. There was once a change in useing passwords. Any one a solution?
