I'm not sure what you mean by 'Thunderbird online'. Are you running the Win32 version of TB in ChromeOS with something like CrossOver for Android?

I'm referring to this Chrome extension https://www.offidocs.com/edit-thunderbird.php?fileurl=newfileoriginal

However, I was able to import my emails through a POP server and I am no longer having this problem.

You download it somewhere you can find it. Desktop maybe. You open Thunderbird You go to the add-on tab Click Extensions Click the icon that looks like a gear. Select Install from File

I do not believe Thunderbird will run on a Chromebook so what does that have to do with it?

Maybe explain what you are trying to accomplish because so far it does not make a lot of sense.

Hi, I am happy to explain further, although my issue was solved by another means.

My hope was to import an MBOX file containing an archive of my Gmail inbox into Thunderbird via the "Import Export Tools" add-on, to bring it into my new default inbox.

As a Chromebook user, my option to use Thunderbird is limited to a Chrome extension with the title "Thunderbird online Mozilla email client." It is an online version of Thunderbird, which in retrospect appears to be powered by a third-party Linux computer.

The Import Export Tools add-on is one that must be downloaded and added from file. Because Thunderbird online is run on another computer, when I tried to add it from file, I was unable to do so.

My understanding at this point is it would not have been possible to import the email archive on a Chromebook, and fortunately I was able to import my email via the Gmail pop server.

Then you need to go to that 3rd party for support. That is not official Thunderbird software and is not supported here.

Better than you evidently. I know Thunderbird is for Windows, Linux and MAC. Not some Google Chromebook.
