Thunderbird Error console is reporting errors with calendar today, 1 nov 2016, preventing download of new mail, is there a fix? Tried restarting TBird in safe mode, without plug-ins. no luck. Tried restarting computer, no luck.

How did you conclude the error reported in the error console is preventing you from getting new mail?
