Will deleting an account in Thunderbird delete messages from the server?

I created an IMAP account for Gmail in Thunderbird and want to delete it. I use POP and do not want to delete messages when I delete them in Thunderbird. If I delete the IMAP account in Thunderbird, will the messages in that account be deleted in the server. T

Deleting the IMAP account in Thunderbird will not delete messages for that account on the server.
