I got new internet provider and new email. Spent hours trying to set up an account but Thunderbird just would not let me have it Just when I think all is good it asked me to reset "master password" which would create a huge problem if I did. Don't need "master password", never had it or will

I have used TB for many years without problem but simply changing email is now a nightmare

The master password is used to protect your stored passwords for your mail and news accounts. When you use a master password, the passwords are stored encrypted on your local computer.

You can find the settings for the master password under Tools -> Options -> Security -> Passwords. There you can choose to use a master password or not and change it if you want.
