I cannot open PDF documents correctly. I get an error on the page that says there is an error on the document. Neither Adobe Acrobat or Reader work.
I cannot open pdf files that are maps correctly . Some of the data layers are missing. I get a warning message that there is an error in the document and I should contact the originator. I have both Adobe Acrobat and the free version of Reader but neither will open them. When I forward them to other clients, they cannot open them either but can open them from the original sender.

1. Can you open the files from your Webmail? 2. Which e-mail provider are you using? If Google, it might be an advanced setting that needs to be changed.
Open Tools/Options/Advanced/general/Config. editor, copy mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks into the search box, double-click the preference to make its value false, OK, restart TB, and see if you still have problems with pdf attachments.
For messages that have already been received in IMAP accounts, you can force a re-download by selecting the Message Source (Ctrl-U), then try to open the attachment.
That worked for one map that was 1.3 mb but did not work for another map that was 3.5mb. My internet provider permits up to 25mb so it seems Thunderbird is still filtering out some of the data. The bottom of the map was blank. Your help is greatly appreciated.
try changing mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks to false in the config editor.
After changing the chunks configuration to false I was able to open a file that was just under 1 meg in size but not one that was 3.6 megs. Only the top half of the map was present while the bottom of the page was blank. I could not open the 1 meg map prior to changing the chunk configuration to false. Is there something limiting the file size that I can open?
that will only work on files that are downloaded after the change occurs. It should not have worked on either of the files already in Thunderbird.
Both files were downloaded after the change occurred. They were both fresh files sent to Thunderbird after I changed the chunks setting.
