A laptop I was running had the power connector disconnected irreparably from the motherboard. I've got the hard drive from it running in an external case, and can access all my files, but I cannot run firefox off that hard drive. I would like to know if there is a way to transfer my bookmarks since I cannot run firefox to export the bookmarks to HTML.

You can copy the places.sqlite from the Firefox profile folder on that hard drive to the profile folder that you currently use.

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Note that the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Window 7+ versions and the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K are hidden folders.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
