I have unwanted Text being displayed on my Desktop. Currently the word "Thunderbird" is being displayed and I cannot get rid of it. I previously had the word "Firefox" displayed. I have removed Firefox and reinstalled it, but still have the same issue

It looks like it may be a shortcut. highlight it, rightclick and a 'show more options' should appear. Click that and a 'delete' option should appear.
